Camp Descriptions:

JUNE 5-9     MUSICAL THEATRE DANCE INTENSIVE (Ages 10 and up, $100)     5:30-8:00 PM
This evening Dance Intensive will involve jazz, tap, ballet and technique. This is a class for students with some show experience but needing additional dance training. It will be tailored to the groups experience and needs. Please wear comfortable clothes for dancing and bring dance footwear (jazz/tap shoes).

JUNE 12-16     YOUNG ACTORS (Ages 5-7)     9 AM – noon
With a focus on movement, stage orientation, and fun acting games, this introductory class is perfect for the young aspiring actor with minimal stage experience. Each class will end with a small performance for the parents to give the kids the experience of acting for an audience, without the stresses of auditioning or memorization.

JUNE 12-16     YOUNG ACTORS (Ages 5-7)     1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
With a focus on movement, stage orientation, and fun acting games, this introductory class is perfect for the young aspiring actor with minimal stage experience. Each class will end with a small performance for the parents to give the kids the experience of acting for an audience, without the stresses of auditioning or memorization.

JUNE 19-23     PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP (Ages 8-12)     9 AM – 4 PM
“Peter Pan” - Want to see what it is like to put together a full show in one week? This is the workshop for you! Students will audition for roles, plan costumes, create sets, and memorize lines all week and perform for family on the final day of class.

JUNE 26-30     BEGINNING ACTING (Ages 8-14)     9 AM – 4 PM
Students will learn acting techniques that will help them be comfortable on stage, inspiring a more truthful and powerful performance. In addition to being introduced to classic acting games and improvisation, the students will collectively brainstorm, produce, and perform a production for friends and family at the end of the session. This class is a great way for kids to get their feet wet with auditioning and performing.

JULY 10-14     PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP (Ages 12-17)     9 AM – 4 PM

JULY 17-21     BROADWAY MUSICALS (Ages 10-17)     9 AM – 4 PM
Perfect class for the older student who is interested in singing, dancing, and acting – A triple threat! Students will learn songs and choreography from popular Broadway shows throughout the week. A small performance for family and friends will be given on the last day of the session.

JULY 24-28     MAKING MOVIES (Ages 10-17)     9 AM – 4 PM
Whether you want to pursue viral videos for the web or you want to start a career in film, this camp will be your introduction to acting on camera. Learn techniques for acting in movies, commercials, and sketch comedy videos. Master the basics of editing videos, writing scripts, and developing unique characters. Each student will receive a DVD copy of their performance to share with friends, family and Hollywood agents!

  • ***ALL camps run 9:00-4:00 Monday through Friday (except Young Actors/Dance).
  • Campers should pack a “nut free” lunch each day and bring a water bottle.
  • Comfortable clothes and close toed shoes are recommended.
  • All Camps cost $250 for week – except ˝ day camps.
  • MINIMUM of 5 CAMPERS per week /MAXIMUM of 25.
  • NOTE: No refunds or credits given unless a medical emergency or waiting list exists. Registration closes one week prior to camp. An informational email will be sent to all campers once registration is closed (approximately 2 days before camp begins)
  • Class payments are accepted via PayPal unless arrangements are made with Mary. Your PayPal email receipt will serve as your confirmation of class. Registration forms/Emergency contacts will be confirmed on the first day of class. Approximately one week before class begins a reminder email will be sent to those who registered online.

 

About our Instructors:

Colin Thornton

Instructor Colin Thornton has been a CTM acting instructor for the past six years. He has been teaching and performing improv comedy for 17 years, and is currently the co-founder and instructor for Cincinnati's unscripted theatre, Coincidence Improv. Colin has directed dozens of performances for children at Town Hall Theatre and Center Stage Players. Recently, Colin has worked for Madcap Puppets, The Murder Mystery Company, and Dramakinetics.

Brent Alan Burington

Instructor Brent Alan Burington is an actor, director, writer, teacher, and designer based in central Ohio. He spent a decade as artistic director of Ohio Festival Theatre and is currently the Core Company Leader with Evolution Theatre Company. As a performer, he has appeared in commercials, films, and on stage all over the United States. He has directed productions as varied as Shakespeare, Neil Simon, and modern musicals and has written and published scripts. Brent has been an instructor with CTM for the past five years.

JW MYERS

Instructor JW MYERS comes to us from Maryland for the second summer this year to share his videographer skills in our Movie Camp. His credits include owner of Route 40 films and well known producer for: A Christmas Tree Miracle (2013), The Pledge (2011) and Flamingo Dreams (2000). He instructs acting for films and on camera scene study classes across the country each year.

NICK WASHINGTON

Instructor NICK WASHINGTON has been teaching fifth grade in Mason for 15 years. Working with children has always been a passion of his. In his spare time, he enjoys playing the piano and writing music and has worked with Mason Community players along with doing the Broadway Musical camp for CTM for the past 5 summers.

Kayla Rice

Instructor Kayla Rice comes to us with experience as an entertainer and dancer at Cedar Fair Kings Island since 2011. Kayla is a graduate from the University of Cincinnati who majored in Middle School Education. She graduated from Hamilton High School and currently coaches cheerleading there. She also teaches dance and tumbling classes at Next Generation Dance Company to children ages 3-18. Kayla is involved with community shows with the Hamilton Civic Theater and Hamilton Rotary Club, which include dancing, singing, and choreographing.

Assistant Heather Hopster has worked with CTM since our 2016 Summer Camps. She is a graduate of Cincinnati State Technical College, is currently studying American Sign Language, and comes to us with experience with Dramakinetics as an assistant instructor.
